The GOAT Run Experience

GOAT Run is for trail runners who enjoy lush green forests filled with moss and ferns, towering evergreens, and trailside flowers. Running by the “Living Room” will give participants a stunning view of the Elwha River Valley. And if this wasn’t epic enough, get ready to eat, drink, and lounge lakeside on the shores of pristine Lake Crescent inside Olympic National Park.

Log Cabin Resort is the Finish Line venue where you will relax post-race with food, drinks, and stunning views. They also have cabins, camping and kayak rentals.

GOAT Run is going cupless!

Unnecessary waste and trash is something we are working to eliminate from events. As an organization dedicated to maintaining a clean race and doing our part to keep our trails clean, starting in 2024 we will be going cupless. This means we are eliminating the use of disposable cups at our races. Runners will have the option of carrying their own hydration vessels or using a HydraPak reusable SpeedCup provided at packet pickup. HydraPak cups are ultra compressible and tuck right in a pocket. More details will be provided in your pre-race email.

Event Guide

Trail Is Open

During the race, the trail will be open to the public. That means bikers and horses in addition to other hikers or runners. Bikers are supposed to yield to runners, but that does not always happen. So please be aware of it. Runners are supposed to yield to horses. If you encounter a horse, please step off the trail to the downhill side.

Food And Drinks

After the race, stick around for heavy snacks and a variety of drinks, served lakeside. We will have a beer garden, so bring cash / card if you want a frosty beverage (21+) in your swag GOAT Run pint glass!

Can I Wear Headphones?

We’d rather you didn’t. If you insist, keep the volume low so you can hear course marshals, passing runners, and cougars. If you can’t hear your own footsteps, the volume is too high.

Return Shuttle

From the Finish Line, return shuttles will take you back to your car. The shuttles will run approximately every 20 minutes.

Where can my family watch me?

There is only one spot along the course where your family can see you. It is at mile 7 of the marathon and mile 12 of the 50K. It is where the trail crosses Eden Valley Road – click here for a Google Map point to help you navigate. This will show where to park, which is past the trail. Spectators must walk back to the trail crossing from the parking spot. Do not park by the sanican or trail crossing.

Clothing Drop

Clothing can be left at the start line, with the start line officials (do not leave on the shuttle). You must bring your own bag with your name on it. Do not leave any clothing along the trail. Your bag will be available at the Finish Line at Log Cabin Resort.

Can I Walk The Race? Can I Bring My Dog?

Of course you might take a couple short walk breaks during the race, but GOAT Run does not have a walking division and we are not set up to accommodate walkers.

While we love your furry friends, our insurance and permitting unfortunately does not accommodate them to join in the fun.

I’m staying at Log Cabin Resort. Is there a shuttle to Joyce?

No, there is not. You will need to drive or be dropped off in Joyce to catch the Start Line shuttle. There is a shuttle to Joyce from Log Cabin AFTER the race, to retrieve your vehicle.
